About

Hi there! My name is Devon Kraemer – Devo to my friends. I am a native to Arizona, and I’ve spent most of my life trying to avoid the sun and heat of this desert valley. Most of my youth was centered around my grandparents who reside in rural Arizona. While there, my grandmother taught me about a variety of art styles and practices. Whether it be painting walls, sewing, oil painting or mudding walls – she taught me it all, and it influenced me greatly over the years.

Despite growing up in this environment, I didn’t really figure out that art was my passion until high school when I learned about Japanese pop culture. Once I was introduced to the stories that were told through manga and anime, I became hooked on learning more, and seeing if I could tell my own stories in a similar medium.

Although creating manga or comics was my main goal and drive, I decided to enroll in The Art Institute of Phoenix’s “Media Arts and Animation” degree. While there, I learned about many forms of animation, and it’s applications. Through a friend at school, I also gained an interest in visual effects and compositing. I then set out to audit most of the classes in the VFX degree- adding After Effects, cameras and green screens to my repertoire of skills.

After graduation in 2007, I moved around the country looking for work, and adding to my skills. Each place that I’ve lived in has captured a little part of myself, and there are aspects of every location that I miss. The cool refreshing rains of Washington. The amazing parks of Ohio. The glitz of Las Vegas. The calm serenity of Flagstaff, and the breath taking monsoons of Phoenix. I love it all.

Because of my travels, I have had the opportunity to meet a wide variety of people, and pick up different skills. When I’m not working, I like to spend my time participating in one of my many hobbies or interests. I love learning about different cultures and ways of life. I feel it’s important to learn about the people whom we share the world with. To not only celebrate our differences, but our similarities as well. While I’m interested in any culture, I have a soft spot for Japanese and ancient Egyptian cultures and customs. I also enjoy nature, and spend a lot of time hiking or visiting natural wonders. I am also a self proclaimed foodie. I love trying different kinds of food, and could easily go broke eating out, or buying ingredients for new recipes. Oh yeah, and I love cats.

Thank you for stopping by my galleries. I hope you enjoy your stay!
